AFA’s mission is to advance the creative and cultural industries through the platform of contemporary African art.

To achieve its mission, AFA works in the following areas:

Supporting dynamic, catalytic contemporary African art initiatives

• We work closely with partners and organizations to conceptualize and pilot new projects—expanding a venture’s intellectual capital and applying insights from a range of sectors, including development, private, and government. 
• We invest in dynamic contemporary art events and programs via sponsorship and promotion.

Connecting collections and institutions with the contemporary art of Africa

• We establish relationships between institutions and the contemporary art and artists of Africa through our broad network of curators, galleries, artists, and experts from across the continent and offer on-the-ground knowledge of the contemporary African art landscape.
• We provide expertise in researching, sourcing, and acquiring contemporary African art for select public and private collections.
